European Suzuki Association - Teachers Newsletter Vol 38 2018
28 A fter a revival of the Trust’s for- tunes in 2016, the income in 2017 was substantially down, leading to a deficit for the year. This was de- spite some very kind and generous donations as detailed below. Happily it looks like a better result for 2018 due to be reported next year. Teacher Training Projects in 2017-18 The first year of the Baltic Cello Course directed by Anja Maja, Fin- land and bringing together cellists from Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia was successfully concluded with ex- ams on 18 September 2017. There were nine participants, and this high number together with efficient or- ganisation, resulted in the 2016 ESTDT grant of GBP 4,000 remaining intact. It has been earmarked to sup- port the continuation of Baltic Cello Course in 2018-19. The Russian Violin Teacher Training Course , directed by Helen Brunner , UK completed its third exams in No- vember 2017 with the support of the Trust. The Russian Piano Teacher Training Course run by Kristinn Örn Kristinsson , Iceland and also support- ed by the Trust, continued in 2017 with exams planned in 2018. Long term teacher training in Latvia continues for Violin (with Koen Rens, Belgium ) and Piano (with Mary McCarthy , UK ). The Trust continues to support the piano course. The first Czech Republic Violin Course started in 2017 with support from the Trust.
